Personal Biography

My real name is Vivian Mary Mutebi and I come from a family of 11 children, 5 brothers and 5 sisters. My family is very religious especially my mother. I don't think that there’s a day when my mother didn't go to church. Every time she goes to church she expects me to go with her because she is that much of a religious person. At a very young age my parents took me to a boarding school along with my brothers and sisters. Although we all went to different boarding schools I have to say that my experience in a boarding school shaped me as an individual but also had a negative effect on me. Boarding schools helped shape my behavior because whenever I went home, I helped my mother more often with house chores and ran all the errands for her. Boarding schools definitely put me on my best behavior and I also raised my grades up every semester because the teachers were very strict. The one thing that I didn’t like about boarding schools was the fact that the kids would try to scare you all the time especially at night in the dorms when the dorm matron turns the lights off. The kids in boarding schools would tell you stories like there was a cat and white lady walking around in the dorm at night. Such stories always made me scared and I told my mother about but she never believed me. At the age of thirteen my family moved to the United States in the summer of 2003 and I started going to school in the 8th grade at Salem Wood School. I felt out of place for the first month of school but eventually I got the hang of it. When I graduated from the 8th grade I went on to Malden High School in the 9th grade. As soon as I went to Malden High I joined the dance club. They taught ballroom dancing, hip hop, and lyrical. I was excited because I’ve always wanted to dance but I was too shy to do it in front of a large crowd. When pep rally came I performed in front of the whole school with my group members. It was one of the happiest moments of my life. Ever since then dancing has been a big priority in my life. The other thing that I love to do is playing badminton. Badminton is very fun sport; it’s almost like playing tennis the only difference is that the net is placed up high in the air like a volleyball net. Playing badminton is the other thing that keeps me busy besides dancing. My friends and family are always very supportive of me especially my father. I am currently enrolled at Salem State College trying to major in Nursing and I hope to graduate in at least 3 to 4 years.
